Lexi Thompson announced today via Instagram that she has withdrawn from the Ricoh Women's British Open. She released the following statement:
- She lost the 2017 ANA Inspiration in a playoff when she was given a 4 stroke penalty for incorrectly marking her ball.
- At the 2017 CME Championship she missed a 2 and a half foot putt that not only cost her a potential victory, but the Player of the Year award.
- Although coming close several times this year, she has not been one of the eighteen different winners on the LPGA Tour.
- She has also attended to her mother's battle with cancer.
Lexi is currently the highest ranked American player. She is currently #5 in the Rolex Rankings.
