Shanshan Feng Projected to be New #1 Player in the World!

In what was once again another exciting LPGA tournament finish, Shanshan Feng has won the Blue Bay LPGA. It wasn't easy. Feng finished -9 under par, one shot better than Moriya Jutanugarn, whose short birdie putt at the par five 18th lipped out.

For Feng, it was her second consecutive victory, and third win of the year.

The victory was Feng's 9th of her career. Shanshan has now earned $1,703,326 this season and is projected to move up from 6th to 3rd on the LPGA Tour official money list.

Of much more importance, with the victory Feng is projected to be the new #1 player in the Rolex Rankings; the first ever Chinese player (male or female) to get to world No. 1.

For Feng, one of the most consistent players on tour for the past decade, getting to the top didn't come easy:

  • This is her 10th year on tour
  • This was her 208th start
  • This was her 9th win (includes 1 major championship)
  • Has 78 top ten finishes on the LPGA Tour
This was Feng's third win of the season, joining In-Kyung Kim as the only 2 players with more than 2 wins this season.

Feng is the first player to win back to back tournaments on the LPGA Tour since she accomplished the feat last year.
