LPGA Reshuffles 2016 Priority List

The LPGA had its first reshuffle of its Priority List this past week. While most of the players moved up or down a few insignificant spots, there were some very significant moves also.

The Priority List is what is used to fill the required amount of spots for any given tournament. Without me getting into the categories, which is potentially confusing, here is a brief explanation. Most full field events have a field of 144 players. Usually 140 of the players come from the Priority List ranking. Two players are Monday qualifiers, and 2 more are sponsor exemptions. So to keep it simple, if your Priority Rating is #150, you have to hope that 10 players decide not to play, or you are probably not getting into the field.

The following players made the biggest jumps in last week's reshuffle:
Joanna Klatten - 142 to 92
Julie Yang - 130 to 93
Megan Khang - 124 to 89
Gaby Lopez - 129 to 94
Nontaya Srisawang - 128 to 97
Jodi Ewart Shadoff - 116 to 91
Simin Feng - 119 to 95
Jacqui Concolino - 105 to 88

Volunteers of America Texas Shootout Preview & Pairings

Congratulations go out to Haru Nomura for winning the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. She now joins Lydia Ko and Ha Na Jang as two time winners on the LPGA tour this year.

This week the LPGA moves to the state of Texas for the playing of the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout. Inbee Park shot a final round 65 last year to win by 3 strokes over Cristie Kerr & Hee Young Park. Inbee also won the inaugural playing of this event in 2013. Unfortunately she will not be teeing it up this week, or anytime soon, because of a left thumb injury.

This will be tournament #11 of 33 on this year's LPGA schedule.

Here are the key details:

Course:  Las Colinas Country Club
Location: Irving, Texas
Defending Champion:  Inbee Park

Final Field: 144 players

Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic Presented by CTBC

Congratulations go out to Minjee Lee for winning the Lotte Championship. Her final round 8 under par 64, was good enough to finish one stroke better than Katie Burnett and In Gee Chun. For In Gee, it was her 3rd consecutive runner-up finish.

The LPGA moves to San Francisco this week for the playing of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic presented by CTBC. This will be the third year that this tournament is being played, and the first two years could not have had more exciting finishes. Two years ago Lydia Ko won this with a birdie on the 72nd hole to finish one stroke better than Stacy Lewis. Last year Lydia Ko and Morgan Pressel were tied at the end of regulation. Ko birdied the 2nd playoff hole to successfully defend her title. She will be trying to three-peat this year.

This will be tournament #10 of 33 on this year's LPGA schedule.

Here are the key details:
