Paula Creamer Wants a Women's Masters at Augusta

Paula Creamer hopes that someday soon there will be a Ladies' Masters at Augusta.

A women's major championship at Augusta? Yes, that is what Paula Creamer is calling for.

The above was posted by Paula after Jordan Spieth won the 2015 Masters.

The club accepted its first women members in August of 2012, when it invited former secretary of state Condoleeza Rice, and financier Darla Moore to wear green jackets, but chairman Billy Payne has said that "It is unlikely Augusta could hold another tournament."

Creamer hopes that there will be further talks and would love to be part of them.

"Augusta wants to grow the game so badly. There is no reason why we can't do that in women's golf," Creamer said. "We're just as much a part of growing the game."

Billy Payne noted that this probably wouldn't be possible because of everything that goes into hosting one tournament.

"We have a very short member season at Augusta National. It's seven months only," he said. "The time that we dedicate to the preparation and conduct of the tournament is already extensive. I dont think that we would ever host another tournament."

But Creamer suggested that a women's version could be played a week after the men's event in April.

"I think the patrons and everyone would love to have two weeks there, two tournaments. Why wouldn't you?" the 2010 U.S. Open champion said.

  1. Yes! I was thinking the very same thing. I would love to see that. Based on Chairman Payne's comments, it would have to be played the next week as Paula suggested. Leave all the infrastructure and stuff in place ala Pinehurst last year.
